After a long weekend, Max and I are home and very tired! Yesterday, we celebrated Madelyn's 5th birthday with a CareBear party in the afternoon. Max held his own as the only boy among 20 little girls...at one point all the girls were jumping on him in the moonbounce...and he was loving life! After the official party ended, the real fun began...Max and Madelyn finally had a few hours to themselves to play. This is what resulted...
Max and Madelyn were playing upstairs in her bedroon for quite some time...we decided we should check on them...and found Max in a Cinderella dress and a lovely hat. He was having so much fun! They also spent some time pretending to paint the toenails of all of Madelyn's dolls. After dress-up time was over, we indulged on some hotdogs...and once again, Max was surrounded by the ladies...
Lucy did make an appearance...just in time for dinner...she knows how to time her party entrances!
After dinner, we headed outside with some old friends to make S'mores and relax. And, of course, Max and Madelyn had to sit next to each other.
I did manage to sneak a few minutes of snuggle time in with Max around the campfire, though. It did involve a marshmallow bribe, but the hugs were well worth the added sugar!
After a fun-filled day (for both Max and me) we crashed in our tent...and Max slept all night without any issues...so we will definitely be going camping again! We did have two extra campers in our tent...Max insisted on sleeping with two CareBears that Madelyn let him borrow. I think he secretly would like a CareBear party for his 6th birthday!
Max and Madelyn played for another few hours in the morning before we headed home. It was one of the most fun, relaxing times we have enjoyed lately. Max and Madelyn played the entire time without a single issue...they occupied each other for hours and were just generally the most well-behaved two kids I have ever seen play together...we never had to remind them once the entire weekend to behave. I think Christine and I will be planning several more playdates in the future...we won't have to do any entertaining of the kids and two best friends get to spend hours catching up!

What a fun time! What does Dad think about the dress up and the Care Bears? :)
