Nonstop Fun

This weekend marked the annual invasion of the Pennsylvania clan to the Jersey Shore...a perfect way to end our staycation! We spent the first two days hanging out with old friends, hitting the beach and enjoying dinner with Grandpa. The final day was spent on the boardwalk in Ocean City.
Lucy experienced the beach for the first time and absolutely loved it! Max also seemed to enjoy the beach more than he has in the past...perhaps because he had a few friends to hang out with this year. Lucy spent a majority of the time playing in the sand with snack breaks every few minutes. Max enjoyed building sandcastles and playing football...of course, he found a way to involve sports with a day on the beach!
Lucy was a bit too short to go on a few of the rides on the boardwalk by herself this year, so Max happily went on with her...even though I am sure he would have preferred the roller coaster. Max did draw the line at riding in the pink airplane that Lucy requested...she didn't seem to mind the green aircraft that Max picked out for them. Lucy was tall enough for the firetrucks...which she clearly loved! It was great seeing Lucy on all these rides...I clearly remember Max riding on these fire trucks at Lucy's age. It brought back a lot of great memories!
We also experienced the Rainforest Cafe for the first time. I wasn't sure how Max was going to do with the loud noises and dark atmosphere, but he loved it. Lucy was more interested in chasing around the frog mascot that wandered through the restaurant.
All in all, I think it was a very successful staycation...lots of quality time with the kids, no major meltdowns (parents or kids!) and memories to last a lifetime! The best part of the entire week is that we spent less than $100 on everything...thanks to lots of season passes and coupons! Lucy even decided this week that she is ready to use the potty...we'll see how long this enthusiasm lasts...on my part and hers!

A successful beach day but no beach vacation this year. You'll have to come down again so we can all go together- looks like you had a lot of fun on your staycation!
