On the road, again...Americana Style

After spending way too much time in traffic last weekend, we hit the road bright and early this morning to beat the traffic. We left around 6 AM and made it home by 3 PM...or as Max excitedly noted...just in time to catch the first pitch of the Phillies game. The poor boy has been in withdrawl all week not being able to watch the game each night.


Our car ride was, again, pleasantly peaceful. Max was in a particularly silly mood all day...out of nowhere he started serenading us with patriotic songs during breakfast..his play list includes My Country 'Tis of Thee, America the Beautiful, The Star Spangled Banner and This Land is My Land. The signing lasted most of the car ride home...which suited us just fine...I would much rather listen to Max singing than Max whining! We did have Sirius satellite radio in our car so Chris and I tried breaking up Max's concert with the '80's station. We introduced our first born to New Kids on the Block, Journey and Tiffany...it was a proud car ride home! Max didn't seem overwhelmed...he sort of just laughed every time we asked if he liked the song.


About two hours from home, Max took his craziness to a whole new level...he graced us with a puppet show courtesy of his socks...



We also got smart on the way home and tied Lulu's binkie to her car seat. Chris and I were both too tired to keep reaching around the seat when she tossed it out of humor or frustration. Yes, that is a shoelace keeping the binkie in place...desperate times call for desperate measures.



When we arrived home, the silliness continued through dinner...I think both Max and Lulu were in the car way too long today and had lots of energy to burn off...
